Chevron funds new camperships at Camp Arroyo
March 2, 2010, Livermore, CA – The Taylor Family foundation (TTFF) has announced Chevron Corporation as the Sustainability Presenting Sponsor for 2010 as well as for Day in the Park, the nonprofit’s signature fundraising event.
The announcement coincides with the foundation’s 20-year anniversary and the 10-year anniversary of Camp Arroyo, TTFF’s year-round camp for Northern California children suffering from life-threatening and chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities and at-risk youth. Chevron has been a major supporter of TTFF since the organization was founded in 1990. Its recent contribution to TTFF will provide funding in full for five new camp groups which had previously been on waiting lists to attend Camp Arroyo. “The Taylor Family Foundation is incredibly fortunate that a corporation like Chevron aligns themselves with us, and has from the very beginning,” said Elaine Taylor, president and co-founder of The Taylor Family Foundation. “Their partnership has given us tremendous credibility, and has allowed TTFF countless opportunities to showcase our foundation over the years.
This gesture of generosity speaks yet again to the commitment and consistency of Chevron as a partner in helping to provide services to a community in need. In addition to financial support, Chevron has established a continual volunteer presence at the foundation. Both employees and executives recently assisted TTFF in a variety of capacities at Camp Arroyo during Chevron’s Volunteer Week, and have had a strong volunteer presence over the years at Day in the Park.
“Since the foundation started 20 years ago, Chevron has partnered with TTFF to help them provide a positive and uplifting environment for special needs youth,” said Debrah Cook, Global Partnerships & Programs Specialist at Chevron. “TTFF’s Camp Arroyo is an amazing place. Every year we are inspired by the energy of the campers, the dedicated staff and the many volunteers. ”
