There was a “Bad Moon Rising” over Livermore in the summer of 2005 when Creedence Clearwater Revisited took the stage in the meadow at Camp Arroyo. Amongst 200-year-old oak trees, the band thrilled the crowd with renditions of favorite Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) tunes, including “Born on the Bayou,” “Lodi,” “Down on the Corner,” “Proud Mary” and “Who’ll Stop the Rain.”
This wasn’t their first concert benefiting The Taylor Family Foundation (TTFF). As supporters of the work Barry and Elaine were doing, former CCR members Doug Clifford and Stu Cook, as well as introducing new lead vocalist John Tristao, performed two concerts at Barry and Elaine’s home in Lafayette. When they offered a third Live Auction Concert package, Elaine asked if they would perform in the meadow once TTFF was settled in at camp to celebrate camp’s opening and the huge milestone for Barry and herself, TTFF, their partner East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD), and all the campers who would be able to enjoy the facility.
In 2005, the foundation put together a first-class concert experience for 500 guests. The day started with a VIP pre-party for 40 catered by long-time Day in the Park Epicurean Ensemble contributors, Zephyr Grill & Bar. VIPs enjoyed lunch with the band and their families at the bocce court.
Although the VIPs had a private luncheon, the remaining guests wanted for nothing! They were treated to a pre-concert lunch hosted by local restaurants with wine donated from Livermore, Napa and Sonoma wineries.
Elaine welcomed the crowd and shared stories of the children and their experiences at camp before the evening wrapped up with guests on their feet dancing, wowed with the band’s performance!
